Colts Sports Club wins the First Division Championship

Colts Sports Club, led by Dhananjaya Lakshan, won the 2025/26 Inter-Club First-Class Three-Day Cricket Championship organized by the Re Lanka Cricket.
The Colts emerged as champions after topping the points table in the Super 8 round of the tournament that concluded yesterday. It is noteworthy that the Colts won a first-class championship after 14 years. The last time the Colts won the championship was in the 2011-12 tournament (March 2012) under the leadership of Malinda Warnapura, and they had won 6 championships by then (1991-92, 1999-00, 2001-02, 2004-05, 2008-09, 2011-12).
Although there was a grand final in last year's first-class tournament, this year's league-style tournament was won by the team that topped the points table. The Colts, who were leading the points table before the start of the final week, secured first place by winning the first innings against NCC in the match held at Pallekele.
The Colts managed to collect 72.765 points with one win and six draws in seven matches in the Super 8 round. Dinesh Chandimal scored 144 runs and Sanoj Darshika scored an unbeaten 100 runs to help the Colts win in the first innings, with Chandimal scoring his 38th first-class century.
This year, 14 leading sports clubs in the country participated in the tournament, and at the end of the preliminary round, which was held in two groups, the top four teams in the points table each advanced to the Super 8 round with the aim of becoming the Inter-Club First Division champions. Accordingly, Police, CCC, Colts and Bloomfield from Group ‘A’, and Ace Capital, Moores, NCC and BRC from Group ‘B’ joined the Super 8 round.
