Young table tennis star Tavi Samaraweera returns home

Tavi Samaraweera, a 10-year-old table tennis prodigy who recently secured two Under-11 World Ranking Tournament titles, arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (26).

He landed at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) from Muscat, Oman, aboard Salam Air flight OV-437.

Tavi won a gold medal at the Bahrain tournament held from 14th to 18th January and also claimed the top spot at the World Junior Table Tennis Championships in Doha, Qatar, from January 19th to 25th.

Currently a Grade 6 student at St. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, Colombo, Tavi is coached by his father, Hasitha Samaraweera.
