At the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Sri Lankan national champion Hiruki de Silva managed to record the fastest time recorded by a South Asian swimmer in the 200m women’s freestyle event. It was also recorded as her personal best in yesterday’s preliminary round, recording 2.10.00 minutes.
However, she narrowly missed out on the semi-finals and finished 39th.
