SL v AFG, 2nd ODI – Sri Lankan Bowlers deliver a Masterclass in Pallekale

It was a spectacle from the Sri Lankan bowlers as their magical spells quickly took the last 7 wickets, securing a 155-run victory over Afghanistan at Pallekale.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. The Sri Lankan batters scored four half-centuries in their innings. Skipper Kusal Mendis (61), Sadeera Samarawickrama (52), Janith Liyanage (50), and Charith Asalanka (97*) all contributed to the innings. For Afghanistan, Azmatullah Omarzai took 3 wickets.

In reply, Asitha Fernando claimed Afghanistan’s first wicket in the 6th over. Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah then built a strong 97-run partnership for the second wicket. However, Afghanistan lost wickets at regular intervals thereafter. They only managed to score 153 runs before being all out in the 33.5th over. Sri Lanka secured the three-match series 2-0 with one match remaining.
