Royal and Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya inter-school squash champions

Royal College and Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya emerged as the undisputed champions in the Sri Lanka Schools Squash Association’s Inter-school Squash Tournament, held at the Air Force Squash Complex from November 27 to 30.

Royal College showcased their dominance in the ‘A’ team tournament by securing the Overall Championship for the second consecutive year. The team’s stellar performance left DS Senanayake College, led by Junior National Champion Nevindu Lakman, in the Runners-up position. Meanwhile, Gateway College claimed the second Runners-up spot in a competition that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

In the ‘B’ team tournament, DS Senanayake Vidyalaya displayed their prowess, claiming the Runners-up position after a hard-fought battle against Royal College ‘B’ team. St Thomas’ College Guruthalawa secured the 2nd Runners-up position, adding to the intense competition.

The spotlight then shifted to Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, where the ‘A’ team, under the leadership of national champion Chanithma Sinaly, clinched the Overall Championship. Visakha Vidyalaya, led by Anargi Perera, displayed commendable performance and secured the Runners-up position, while Ladies’ College ‘A’ team earned the 2nd Runners-up position.

In a remarkable feat, the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya ‘B’ team also etched their name in the winner’s list by securing the championship title in the ‘B’ team tournament. Musaeus College ‘B’ team secured the Runners-up position, and Visakha Vidyalaya ‘B’ team took the 2nd Runners-up position, rounding out an exceptional competition.

Highlighting individual brilliance, Nevindu Lakman and Chanithma Sinaly achieved the title of Under-20 Champions for the consecutive two years in 2022 and 2023. Their outstanding performances showcased not only personal excellence but also contributed significantly to their teams’ overall success, making them stars of the tournament.
