Today marks the commencement of the final phase of the 52nd Sir John Tarbat Junior Athletic Championship, organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Association and sponsored by Ritzbury. The tournament is scheduled to run until November 5 at the Sugathadasa Stadium.
This three-day sporting event is set to witness the participation of over 5,000 talented young athletes.
Notably, this championship marks the 12th consecutive year of Ritzbury’s continuous sponsorship, emphasizing their commitment to supporting the Sir John Tarbat Athletic Championship.
The championship will be conducted across four age categories: Under-12, Under-13, Under-14, and the highest age category, Under-15.
In the preliminary phase, an impressive 25,000 athletes took part in provincial-based initial competitions. These initial stages were held across four championships in Bandaragama, Colombo, Kandy, Beliatta, and Jaffna.
The organizers have planned to award Championship Trophies for each age group, honor the overall champion school, and recognize the best athletes, both boys and girls, for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
