Sri Lanka registered their first victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, defeating the Netherlands by 5 wickets. Sadeera Samarawickrama was the standout player for Sri Lanka, as he scored an unbeaten 91 runs and helped SL to chase down the target 10 balls to spare.
Earlier, the Netherlands won the toss and elected to bat first but only managed to score 262 runs before being all out. Sybrand Engelbrecht and Logan van Beek added 70 and 59 runs, respectively, to the Netherlands’ innings. Kasun Rajitha and Dilshan Madushanka took 4 wickets each for Sri Lanka.
