In the 18th Annual LCMC Regatta held at Colombo Rowing Club on Saturday, the Ladies’ College Rowing Team emerged victorious, securing the Musaeus Higgins Challenge Trophy by defeating their rival, Musaeus College, with a score of 39-13.

Highlighting their outstanding performance, Haaya Hassen from Ladies’ College was named the Most Outstanding Oarswoman, earning an impressive 25 points for her team out of the total 39 points they collected.

The girls from Flower Road dominated the regatta by winning the prestigious Boat Race with 12 points, the ‘B’ Four with 8 points, and the Old Girls Four, although not awarded points. However, Musaeus College also had their moments of victory, triumphing in the ‘C’ Four, ‘B’ Double Scull with 5 points, and ‘A’ Double Scull with 7 points.

In the initial stages of the 18th edition of the regatta, the Ladies’ College oarswomen in Red displayed their prowess by winning all four opening races, which included the ‘B’ Scull (2 points), ‘A’ Scull (6 points), ‘A’ Pair (4 points), and another ‘A’ Pair (8 points), giving them a commanding lead of 20 points to 0 after the first four races.

The Ladies’ College has won 12 times in the Regatta competition, while Musaeus has won five times. Unfortunately, the Regatta couldn’t happen in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic. This is the third time in a row that The Ladies’ College has won the competition.
