Asian Games 2023-Sahan and Chamari to lead Sri Lanka in cricket

All rounder Sahan Arachchige will lead the Sri Lanka men’s cricket team at the Asian Games which will commence in China from September23

Sahan Arachchige who was a last minute addition to the Asia Cup final to replace Maheesh Theekshana but couldn’t find a place in the final eleven got a chance to captain the Sri Lanka team for the first time in this T- 20 format tournament at Asian Games.

Sahan Arachchige the NCC all rounder who played at the world cup qualifying round in Zimbabwe recently is in good touch with the bat and ball while experienced Ashen Bandara is also among the 15 member team for China tour.

In fact Sri Lanka has named a very young side for this T- 20 side while seniors are getting involved with world cup training

. Nuwanindu Fernando the opener who has experience playing with National team while Lasith Croosepulle the best emerging player of the recently concluded LPL and slinger action paceman Nuwan Thushara and former National under 19 skipper ,youngester Shevon Daniel also among the team and Jaffna spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth is also named.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka women’s team led by Chamari Atapatthu who came back from England after historic T-20 win once again will take part in Asian Games.

Sri Lanka men’s team was placed third at 2010 Asian Games in , China Guangzhou while Sri Lanka men’s team were able to win gold medal in 2014 Asian Games in Incheon,South Korea while same year Sri Lanka women’s team won bronze medal.
