The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup continued Monday with England taking on Nigeria in the round of 16 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.
The match was ultimately decided by a penalty shootout in which four clutch goals by England triumphed over Nigeria’s two.
Following their penalty shootout victory, England have reached at least the quarter final stage at all six Fifa Women’s World Cup tournaments they have appeared in.
This was a serious warning shot that they need to improve in the last eight, though. They’re unlikely to get away with a display like this again.
