Lankan archers for World Archery Youth event in Ireland

Thisal Dinsara and Lakindu Gunaratne, two talented archers from Sri Lanka, have been selected by the Sri Lanka Archery Association to represent the country at the World Archery Youth Championships 2023 to be held in Limerick, Ireland, from July 3 to 9.

This is an important opportunity for both Thisal Dinsara and Lakindu Gunaratne to showcase their skills on an international stage and improve their world rankings. This will be Sri Lanka’s first overseas archery tour since 2017, making it a significant event for the country’s archery community.

Following a two-day Selection Trial held last month, the three-member selection committee chose Thisal Dinsara, a nineteen-year-old student from Ananda College, for the Under-20 70m event. Lakindu Gunaratne, a fifteen-year-old student from S Thomas’ College, was selected for the Under-18 60m event.

Dhammika Karandenigoda, the Secretary of Sri Lanka Archery and a Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, expressed his belief that both athletes will enhance their world rankings and bring honour to Sri Lanka.

“Their performance in the tournament will not only uplift their own sporting careers but also contribute to the reputation of the country in the world of archery,” said Sri Lanka Archery Secretary.
