Eight-member squad for South Asian Tennis Tourney

The Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) have named an eight-member contingent for the South Asian ITF Regional Under-12 Boys’ and Girls’ Qualifying Tennis Tournament, which will be held from May 16 to 20 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The Sri Lanka Boys’ Tennis Team will be spearheaded by the number one ranked player Yudheerya Atapattu of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala and he will be joined by Damsath Peiris (Ananda College), Nethushan Pulunath (St. Joseph’s, College Negombo) and Buvindu Jayawardena (Maliyadeva College).

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Girls’ Team will bank on their number one ranked player Annaya Norbert of Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya with Gianna Perera (Ave Maria Convent, Negombo), Eliza Kahagalle (Holy Family Convent) and Hesandee Mallawarachchi (Ave Maria Convent) joining the line-up.

Sri Lanka will battle it out along with Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and the host nation Bangladesh during this five-day team championship. Two teams from this tournament will receive promotion and will qualify from the South Asia Region for the ITF 2023 Under-12 finals to be held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
