CSK vs KKR, MATCH 61-TATA IPL 2023: KKR’s clinical performance secures comfortable win over CSK

Break the Chepauk jinx by registering a similar victory after 11 years! CSK started strongly after electing to bat first, scoring 52 runs in the powerplay, but struggled in the middle overs. Spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy were successful in taking wickets and keeping the scoring rate in check. CSK only managed to score 40 runs in the middle overs, losing 4 wickets. Narine was particularly impressive, conceding only 15 runs from his four overs and taking two crucial wickets. Despite this, Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 48 off 34 balls helped CSK post a total of 144.

In response, KKR got off to a poor start, losing 3 wickets in the powerplay to Deepak Chahar. However, a match-winning partnership of 99 runs from 77 balls between skipper Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh for the 4th wicket took the game away from the hosts. Rana remained unbeaten on 57 off 44 balls, while Rinku scored 54 off 43 balls, which included 3 sixes and 4 fours. KKR won the match by 6 wickets with 9 balls to spare.
