GT avenged their previous losses against Rajasthan Royals by registering a convincing victory on their home turf. Despite losing Buttler early once again and Jaiswal getting run out in the 6th over, Samson managed to score 30 runs before losing his wicket to Josh Little. However, RR kept losing wickets at regular intervals and failed to produce any other batter who could even cross the 15-run mark. The Afghan Spin duo of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed deserve credit for picking 5 wickets for just 39 runs in 7 overs between them.
Chasing a small target of 118, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha provided a solid start to GT by going at 8.1 r.p.o in the powerplay. A 71-run partnership between them put GT in a commanding position and left little room for RR to stage a comeback. Hardik Pandya, who came in at number 3, was in a hurry to finish the game and smashed 39 runs from just 15 balls. The GT Skipper’s quickfire innings helped his team win the match with 6.1 overs to spare.
