Roshan Mahanama to lead T20 exhibition match in UAE

Former Sri Lanka School Cricketers – UAE in collaboration with Roshan Mahanama has organised an Exhibition cricket match to felicitate Mahanama’s immense contribution to cricket and society.

The T20 cricket encounter to be played between “We are Friends XI” led by legendary cricketer and former ICC match referee Roshan Mahanama and Srilankan Schools “Invitation XI” led by former Nalandian cricket captain Viraj Guruge.

We are Friends XI are comprising cricketers those who have compete the game with Roshan Mahanama during mid 1980s and early 90’s. The Invitation XI mainly consists of former school boy cricketers who are currently residing in UAE.

Roshan Mahanama’s team will have a lineup of yesteryear schoolboy star cricketers who have represented Sri Lanka Schools and first class cricket with pride and distinction. Among the known cricketers in the team for this significant match is Ajith Weerakkody member of the 1994 National cricket team for the Austral Asia Cup under the leadership of Mahanama, along with him, Presley polonnowita, K.G Priyantha, Tuan Ahmath, Sanjeewa Karunasekara, Nurendar Perera, Heshan Silva, Zaman Jaymon, Jehan Jayman and Aruna Bandaranaike who represented Sri Lanka Under-19’s during their cricketing career.

Ajith Weerakkody, head of the organizing committee, and former Sri Lanka cricketer from St Joseph’s, urge all cricket-loving public to keep the date free and to participate in this unique event to witness the legend in action with past Sri Lankan school cricket greats of the game, along with young cricketers featuring in the Invitational X1.
