Sri Lanka to send three more players to Australia

Niroshan Dickwella

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to send wicket-keeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella, and fast bowlers Asitha Fernando and Matheesha Pathirana with Tim McCaskill, the Head of High Performance to train in Australia.

Five of the Sri Lanka main squad players were injured during the ongoing world cup with Dilshan Madushanka, Dushmantha Chameera, and Danishka Gunathilaka completely missing the tournament.

Pramod Madushan and Pathum Nissanka currently remain on the side with minor injuries.

Sri Lanka consultant coach Mahela Jayawardena told NewsWire on Saturday that additional players will be flown from Colombo to keep them on standby as any more injuries would require replacements and it would be easier to make the replacements if they are available in Australia and are match-ready.
