In the new year, Sri Lanka expects to participate in more than 15 international athletics competitions and as a result, 2022 has become a very busy year for Sri Lanka Athletics. The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Invitational International Dhaka Marathon will be held in Bangladesh from the 10th of this month.
Several other key events to happen this year are Commonwealth Games, World Athletics Championships, Asian Athletics Championships, Indoor World Athletics Championships, Asian Athletics Championships and World Junior Athletics Championships.
The 100th National Athletics Championships are expected to be the final qualifiers for the Asian Athletics Championships and Shangri-Lanka Board of Athletes, which is gearing up to celebrate its centenary in 2022, has also planned a number of local competitions.
