Rain Hits Galle; West Indies Survive

Nearly 2 sessions were washed away today as  rain showers hit the Galle cricket stadium post lunch. West Indies were 224 for 9 in 80 overs just when Rahkeem Cornwall felt and rain decided to spoil the Sri Lankan party.

The spinners had a fantastic outing in the 1st Test between Sri Lanka and West Indies as the visitors found themselves losing 6 wickets after bundling Sri Lanka all out yesterday. West Indies were 113/6 overnight and made enough runs to avoid the follow on.

Mayers and Holder held their ends well until Mayers fell on 45. Jason holder was the next to depart on 36. Rahkeem Cornwall also made some lusty blows and fell on 39, the last wicket before rain. Praveen Jayawickrama, Dhananjaya De Silva and Suranga Lakmal were the wicket takers today. Ramesh picked up 3 wickets yesterday but went for runs today.

Day 4 may resume tomorrow if the weather is good and Sri Lanka will bat the 2nd Innings since West Indies have avoided the follow on.
