Team Sri Lanka confirms 9 athletes, 17 officials to Tokyo 2020

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka has released the final draw of nine athletes and 17 officials who will be taking part at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which will be on show from 23 July to 8 August 2021.

The pandemic hit sports spectacle was postponed for more than a year for this reason. Finally, the nine athletes who will be competing at the Games and officials have been listed below:

Niluka Karunaratne, Badminton, Men’s Singles (Dinuka Karunaratne – training partner-cum-coach)

Tehani Egodawela, Shooting 10m Air Rifle – Women (Pradeep Edirisinghe – Manager),

Matthew Abeysinghe, Swimming 100m free style – Men (Manoj Abeysinghe – Coach),

Aniqah Gaffoor, Swimming 100m butterfly – Women (Manoj Abeysinghe – Coach)

Milka Gehani, Artistic Gymnastics (R.A. Kapila – Team Manager, and Ranjan Tharanga – Coach)

Mathilda Karlsson, Equestrian – Jumping individual (Suranjith Premadasa – Team Manager, N.B. Nikolov – groom, M. V. Allwoerden – Horse assistant personnel, C.J.L. Marie – veterinarian, and A. Mueller – train pass)

Chamara Dharmawardhana, Judo 73kg – Men (Amal Ratnayake – Coach)

Yupun Abeykoon, Athletics 100m Men (C. Licciardello – Coach)

W.K.L.A. Nimali, Athletics 800m Women (Sujith Abeysekara – Coach)
