Western Province 1st Classic All Island Ranking Badminton this week

More than a thousand shuttlers are expected to take part at the 1st Classic All Island ranking Badminton tournament conducted by Western Province Badminton Association. This tournament is scheduled to be held from 24th (today) to 1st March with more raking players are to be present. It will be played at the two venues S. Thomas Gymnasium Mt Lavinia and Mercantile Badminton Association Indoor Stadium, Colombo 07.
“This will be the first All Island classic ranking tournament for 2020 and shuttlers from clubs and schools all over the country are expected to take part this to add more competitive,” said Western Province Badminton Association President Mohan Wijesinghe. This tournament will be conducted  32 events including major five events open men and women singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles mixed doubles.
In addition for the juniors under 13, 15, 17, 19 boys and girls singles and doubles events to be conducted and this is very important for the school players to improve their rankings said Secretary of the Western Province Badminton Association Rajpal Salgado. Especially for the seniors over 30, over 40, over 50 and over 60 men’s and women singles and doubles events to be added in this tournament. Sri Lanka Badminton Association headed by President Rohan de Silva also give their support to success this tournament.
  For this tournament five lacks rupees prize money will be offered the seniors while junior will receive Badminton gears and seniors will receive cash awards.  In addition certificates, ad medals and certificates also will receive for the winners and runners up at the awards ceremony.
