Ravindu Laksiri and Fathoum Issadeen emerged men’s and women’s open singles champions at the SLS Open squash championship concluded recently at the Air Force squash courts Ratmalana. Ravindu Laksiri and Fathoum Issadeen played with more confidence to finish on top of the two open events. Ravindu Laksiri went up against doubles partner Shameel Wakeel and won comfortably (3-1), while Holy Family Convent player Fathoum Issadeenn defeated her 17-year old school mate Sameera Deen to clinch the major title.
Meanwhile, Gihan Suwaris defeated Mohamed Hakeem in the Men’s Open 3rd– 4th playoff while in the Women’s Open, Yeheni Kuruppu defeated Devmini Gallage in the 3rd– 4th playoff.
D. Gallage was able to clinch her maiden title in the Girls, under 19 category defeating Sameera Deen in the final. M. Wood defeated DHT Randima in the Boys’ Under 19 category to take home the junior title. D. L. S. T Liyanage and M. B. Dissanayake won the girls and boys titles while N. A Dias and M. B. B Nanayakkara won the girls and boys under 11 finals respectively.
