School rugby season begins today

With the club rugby season almost coming to an end, focus will now turn to inter-schools under 19 rugby season which will kick off today with St.Peter’s College Bambalapitiya taking on S.Thomas College Mount Lavinia at S.Thomas grounds while St.Joseph’s College Maradana will take on Science College Mount Lavinia at CR & FC grounds in Longden Place. Both games will be scheduled to kick off at 4.00pm today.

In the top division 12 teams will be in action which is divided into two groups comprising six teams in each.

Group A consist of defending champions Royal, St Peters, Kingswood, Wesley, S.Thomas and Maliyadewa – who have been promoted to play in the ‘A’ Division this year.

he Group B comprises last year’s runner up St.Josephs, Isipathana, Trinity, Zahira, St.Anthony’s and Science – who have been also promoted to ‘A’ Division as well.

There will be six other matches due to be played next week as well.
