Kingswood and Mahamaya win inaugural Central Province TT championship

Akila Rajasinghe of Kingswood College Kandy and Thanushi Rodrigo of Mahamaya emerged champions at the inaugural central Province Table Tennis tournament conducted by Gampola TT Academy and Kuruduwatta Royal College TT parents Association held at the Nawalapitiya Jayathilaka Indoor Stadium recently.

Akila defeated Akash Vishwa from Gampola Wickramabahu National school at the junior boys final event while Thanushi outclassed Waruni Ishara from Gothami Girls school Kandy to take junior girls title in their respective finals. Kuruduwatta Royal College emerged champions at the junior boy’s team event while Wickramabagu National school Gampola became the runners-up. Cadet boys team event won by Kingswood College and they beat Dhamaraja College while Ranabima Royal and Vidyartha College won joint third place at the Cadet event. Cadet girls team event won by Mahamaya Balika while Hillwood Kandy team won the runners-up award.

45 schools from Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya participated in this inaugural tournament. Former TTASL President Chandana Perera was the Chief Guest and gave away the awards. Necsjen Campus Kandy branch Marketing Manager Maxlin Samdeen IT Manager Hashkar Saheen and Gampola TT Academy President R.D Priyankara were and other senior officials of Gampola TT Academy also graced this occasion.
