Four AIBA referees to officiate at Boxing Nationals at Reid Avenue

The 93rd Boxing National Championship conducted by Amature Boxing Association (ABA) will commence from today (20) at the   Royal MAS arena at Reid Avenue. The finals will be held on 23rd at the same venue.
According to the President of the ABA Dian Gomes, all leading boxers from Sri Lanka Army, SL Navy, SL AirForce and MAS Unichela, Slimline are expected to take part this major tournament. “We will get the services of four neutral AIBA judges to officiate this tournament. This time they are from Jordan, China and Singapore. This is the third time we are getting AIBA judges for this Nationals said ABA chief.” said Dian Gomes.
Anusha Kodituwakku, Keshani Hansika are the two key women boxers while Dinidu Saparamadu, Thivanka Ranasinghe and Ishan Bandara will be key among men boxers with everyone having international experience.
“This year several boxers took International medals while three bronze medals at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. All these boxers are expected to take part this tournament and keen tussle is expected during the four-day tournament” said ABA chief.
Army sports club and MAS Unichela won the men’s and women’s championship last year.
Army Commander General Mahesh Senanayake will be the chief guest on the final day on 23 rd and give away the awards.
