Sri Lanka win second gold with second all podiums at Para Asian Games

Sri Lanka para athletes once again came to the limelight on the second day of the track and field events at the Para Asian Games when they grabbed all three medals  at the T-42  100m event in Jakartha on Tuesday. This was the second time Sri Lankan took all three medals of the events and earlier they collected all three gold, silver and bronze at T- 42/63 200m on the opening day.

Amila Prashan who won Gold in the 200m T42/63, came back with a superb performance to secure the sprint double in the T42/63 category as he raced to victory in the event clocking 12.56secs clinching the Gold medal.  This is the first time Sri Lankan sprinter clinched the gold double at the Para Asian Games. In addition, Indika Chuladasa collected his second silver of the games clocking 12.87 secs and he won the first silver at the same category 200m previous day . Keerthi Bandara clinched the Bronze medal clocking 12.92 secs making it the second all Sri Lankan podium in two days time.The first day Sri Lankan grabbed all three medals at the T-42/63 200m.

 Meanwhile  long jump silver medal winner Amara Indumathi with 27.96 seconds finished fifth place  at the 200m T/ 45/46/47   while Chinese Li lu  won  the gold with 25.82 seconds followed by another Chinese athlete Van Yanpin 26.45 seconds  to take silver. Pradeep Somasiri with 23. 12 seconds and Saman Subasinghe with 23. 17 seconds finished 5th and 6th respectively at the 200m T 45/46/47 category while Van Hoe of China won the gold with 21.71 seconds. Ajith Prasdanna Kumara finished with 24.99 seconds to finish 6 th at the 200m T 44/62/64.

Colonal Deepal Herath the Manager of the Sri Lanka Para team said  Sri Lankans missed few medals on the second day but managed to add another three medals to increase the tally with 8 medals.
