We are confidence to take Windies’ challenge says Chandimal

Sri Lankan cricketers start their West Indies tour toaday(6) at Trinidad when they will meet West Indies in their first test of the three test series which  commence from 7.30pm local time 

When Srilankasports.com contacted Sri Lankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal he emphasized that his team is ready to face the West Indies’  challenge with more confidence.

“We have well balanced side with seniors and youngsters.Actually inclusion of former skipper Angelo Matthews bring good moral and he will strength our middle order ” said Chandimal.

“We have good batsman as well ad good bowling department.It gives good confidence to brat opponent.After 10 years Sri Lanka team is getting ready to take  Caribbeans.We knew normally Caribbean wickets are suitable for paceman and this time too they have goof paceman like Jason Holder and also several new comers. Anyway we are ready to take this challenge ”

” We have missed Opener Dimuth Karunaratna due to finger injury.But we  Mahela Udawatte who called test for the first time and Kusal Janith Perera and young stroke maker Kusal Mendis. Anyway we have not yet decided to name openers. It will be Kusal Mendis and Kusal Janith or the Udawatte said Sri Lankan skipper.

However Dhananjaya de Silva who lost his father due to a shooting incident which took place on the eve of Sri Lankan team’s embarcation to West Indies has already joined with team. It is most likely to give him a break in the first test while Niroshan Dikwella the wicket keeper who hit brisk knock of 72  at the three day game will be a hopeful starter.

Rangana Herath is the only experience at the Caribbean wickets earlier and  Dilruwan Perera with three paceman Suranga Lakmal .Lahiru Kumara and Lahiru Gamage could find a place in the final eleven.

Skipper Chandimal hit a fine century while Matthews. Dikwella  Kusal Mendis hit half centuries at the three day game .Mendis was first ball duck in the first innings but made an unbeaten half century to reach good form during the practice game .

Sri Lanka team reached to Trinidad in last 26th but Coach Hathurusinghe was joined the team straight from Sydney.
