Jamie Siddons Departs as Ramesh Ratnayake Returns to Sri Lanka Women’s Team

Sri Lanka Cricket has reappointed former coach Ramesh Ratnayake to take charge of the national women’s cricket team following the departure of Australian Jamie Siddons, who has stepped down from his position due to personal reasons.

Siddons, who assumed the role of head coach with effect from March 16 this year, had signed a one-year contract. However, his tenure has come to an early end after approximately six months, prompting Sri Lanka Cricket to bring back Ratnayake to lead the women’s side.

Ratnayake is no stranger to the Sri Lankan women’s team, having previously served as its head coach before leaving the position last year. His return is expected to provide continuity and familiarity as the team prepares for its upcoming international assignments.

Siddons’ departure comes before the completion of his contracted term, leaving Sri Lanka Cricket with the task of ensuring stability within the coaching setup. The appointment of Ratnayake signals a return to a familiar figure who has prior experience working with the national women’s squad.

With the women’s team continuing its efforts to strengthen its performances on the international stage, Ratnayake will now face the challenge of building consistency, improving competitiveness and preparing the players for the demands of international cricket.

Further details regarding the coaching arrangements and the team’s immediate plans are expected from Sri Lanka Cricket.
