The Air Force team succeeded in winning the overall championship at the 14th Defence Services Badminton Tournament.
Air Force athletes secured the overall championship title by winning both the men’s and women’s championships at the tournament, which was held at the Army Indoor Sports Complex in Panagoda.
Accordingly, the Air Force claimed the men’s doubles and team championships, as well as the women’s open singles, doubles, and team championships.
Leading Aircraftwoman Praveena Wijesundara won the Women’s Singles title, while she teamed up with Leading Aircraftwoman Anurangi Masakorala to secure the Open Women’s Doubles title. The Men’s Doubles title was won by the pair of Leading Aircraftman Lochana de Silva and Aircraftman Achintha Imeshak. The awards ceremony was held under the patronage of Major General Mohan Premarathna, President of the Sri Lanka Army Badminton Association.
