Sri Lanka booked a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Juniors Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifying Event with an impressive 2-0 win over Pakistan in their quarter-final encounter held at the SLTA courts in Colombo.

Competing in a tournament that features 12 nations, the hosts delivered a confident performance, wrapping up the tie through straight-set victories in both singles matches. Leading the charge, top seed Annaya Norbert of Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya, produced a composed display to defeat Romisa Malik 6-1, 6-4. Norbert dominated from the baseline and stayed composed under pressure in the second set to secure the win.

Akesha Silva of Newstead College, Negombo, then sealed the result with another commanding performance in the second singles match, defeating Hajara Sohail 6-1, 6-2. Silva maintained consistency throughout and applied relentless pressure with smart shot selection.

With the win, Sri Lanka moves into the semi-finals, where they are set to take on Maldives as they continue their strong run in the tournament.
