On March 17, 1996, Sri Lanka achieved a historic victory by defeating the Australian team by seven wickets in the World Cup tournament held in Lahore, Pakistan.
It has been 30 years since the Sri Lankan team won the World Cup.
Sri Lanka, led by Arjuna Ranatunga, chased down a target of 242 runs and won with 22 balls to spare.
Aravinda de Silva scored an unbeaten 107 runs and took 3 wickets for 42 runs while bowling.
