England took a 2–0 series lead after winning the second T20I by 6 wickets (DLS).
In the second T20I, England won the toss and chose to bowl first, the same as in the first match. This time, Sri Lanka’s batting lineup performed well and posted 189/5 in their allocated 20 overs.
Pathum Nissanka scored 34 runs, Kamil Mishara made 36, Kusal Mendis added 32, and Pavan Rathnayake top-scored with 40 to help Sri Lanka build a strong total.
While chasing the challenging target, England started well. However, rain stopped play when England were 57/2 in 7.2 overs. The match was later restarted with the overs reduced to 17, and England were given a revised target of 168 runs.
Tom Banton remained unbeaten on 54 runs, while Jos Buttler scored 39 and captain Harry Brook added 36. Their efforts helped England chase the target comfortably in 16.4 overs.
The final T20I will be played at the same venue, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy, on February 3.
