Ceylon Agro Industries Ltd. (Prima Group Sri Lanka) has partnered with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for the 18th consecutive year to sponsor the Prima Under-15 Sri Lanka Youth League (SLYL) 2025.
Held under SLC’s national pathway programme, the tournament provides young cricketers with a national-level platform to progress within the country’s development structure.
The 50-over tournament features five super provinces – Colombo North, Colombo South, Dambulla, Galle and Kandy. Matches will be played across five Colombo venues from 19 to 28 November. The semifinals will take place on 26 November, with the final scheduled for 28 November at Thurstan College Grounds, Colombo.
Since its inception, the Prima Under-15 Youth League has produced several players who have gone on to represent Sri Lanka at national level. Prima Group has been the official sponsor since 2007.
National white-ball captain Charith Asalanka, who played in the 2011-12 editions, said the tournament provided valuable early exposure for young players. Kamindu Mendis, who participated in 2012–13, noted its role in shaping his early cricketing journey. Opening batter Pathum Nissanka, recalling his involvement in 2013, said he believes the tournament will continue to support emerging talent.
“The Prima Under-15 SLYL reflects our enduring commitment to nurturing grassroots cricket in this country,’’ said Ceylon Agro Industries GM Sajith Gunaratne during a press briefing held in Colombo on Monday (17).
“For nearly 20 years, we’ve worked closely with the SLC to create opportunities for budding cricketers to unearth their potential. Observing many of them ascend through the ranks to represent the nation brings enormous satisfaction.”
SLC CEO Ashley de Silva stated, “ SLC plays a pivotal role in age-group cricket, as it provides the ideal avenue to find and nurture players for the future and this tournament has played a crucial part in that process.”
