Lahiru Achintha wins Sri Lanka’s first Asian Youth Games Gold

Lahiru Achintha made history for Sri Lanka by clinching the country’s first-ever Asian Youth Games Gold medal in the Boys’ 1500m event in Bahrain on Wednesday (23).

 

Achintha, representing St. Aloysius College, Ratnapura, secured the victory with a personal best time of three minutes and 57.42 seconds.

 

A Chinese athlete took the Silver medal with a time of three minutes and 58.73 seconds. This triumph raises Sri Lanka’s overall medal tally at the 2025 games to two.
