Please accept our apologies for not providing an in-depth analysis similar to our coverage of the Cup segment. Due to the cluster of nine games played on the same day, the Plate and Bowl contenders unfortunately receive less exposure, as our team is limited in its ability to watch and report on every match within such a tight timeframe.
We anticipate a change in the schedule next week by the school league organisers, allowing every school in the Dialog League an equal opportunity for media coverage.
St. Joseph’s vs Kingswood @ Bogambara
Kingswood will be disappointed after losing 33–22, despite leading 21–17 at one point. The Kandy boys performed well in the first half, but reports indicate they conceded a series of infringements in the second half, which opened the floodgates for St. Joseph’s. The Joes capitalised with their powerful forwards—not just in defence but also in structured phases—which helped put the game to bed, as Kingswood panicked and resorted to aimless kicking.

Zahira vs D.S. Senanayake @ Maradana
Reports indicate that this was an excellent, high-scoring game. D.S. Senanayake edged out Zahira 41–35 after leading 27–12 at halftime. Zahira fought back strongly in the second half, but D.S., led by their hard-working forwards, had already taken control early on. Zahira was left playing catch-up rugby and ultimately fell short, despite their determination and grit. D.S.’s defence held firm when it mattered most.
Ananda Enjoy a Field Day Against Sumangala
Ananda defeated Sumangala 36–17. Sumangala, still reeling from their heavy loss to St. Joseph’s last week, played with better intent this time. Reports suggest their defence improved, but Ananda College smartly exploited weaknesses on the fringes and exposed the vulnerabilities in Sumangala’s backline to secure a comprehensive win.
