The weekend wrap with plate and bowl qualifiers with Christopher Jordashe on the schools rugby league 2025

Zahira 58 Mahanama 17

Zahira qualified into the plate segment whilst hopefuls Mahanama into bowl after a sub standard performance at Maradana last Saturday.

Zahira ran down 10 tries , converting 4 , whilst Mahanama, who were competitive throughout this season, looked off colour and their defence showing vulnerability. Every time the tankers spread the ball , Mahanama defence fell apart. Zahira richly deserves to be in the plate segment, Mahanama has a lot of homework to sort out in their defence.

St Joseph’s 67 Sumangala 07

Another disappointing one-sided game at Longdon place. The only comfort or soothing balm for Sumangala is that they are in the plate segment thanks to their worthy wins against Vidyartha and Thurstan.

St Joseph’s had a great outing in the park. Played open rugby, show cased their back division talent as Sumangala seem vulnerable in the breakdowns on the day, even isolating players in the mauls.

The scoreline paints the correct picture but it was a dismissal performance by SUMMA after they gave so much hope to their fans, old boys after those 2 great wins.

Kingswood 27 Dharmaraja 17

Kingswood remain in the plate segment but have played well in patches showing amazing skills and have some good runners in their three quarter line.
They have lacked consistency but have great potential to rise to the occasion and compete with any top tier side.

Kingswood nearly upset the apple cart for St Thomas’ in the Thomian backyard, beat Zahira, who thumped Mahanama on Saturday, but Kingswood is no doubt a dark horse.

They gave the green machine a hard time , and their showing against Mahanama in their own home turf was exquisite..

Guess they will gleefully accept the win against arch rivals Dharmaraja by 27 points to 17, but on hindsight, Kingswood was expected to pile on more points.

Kingswood is a strong favourite to impress in the plate , they richly deserve their slot while Dharmaraja will play in the bowl.

St Anthony’s 28 Science 26

Both teams will play in the bowl but science will be disappointed that they could not register a win despite their immense line speed and potential runners.

St Anthony’s ran Science dry a bit in the first half , Science will remember that catch up Rugby is not the way to go.

DONS , Ananda , Kingswood, Zahira, Sumangala, and St Joseph’s in the plate championship will be competitive.

The bowl segment is not short of talent either.

St Anthony’s, Science , Vidyartha, Mahanama, Dharmaraja and Thurstan will be disappointed but they can showcase their potential in the bowl segment.

Coming up is our team of the week with no votes, but pure adjudication by Christopher Jordashe. Stay with us until we reveal same.
