Trinity 51 % Royal 49 % @ Pallekelle on 5 July.
The Bradby boys will fight a block buster battle for supremacy to top the group 3 , A division league points after qualifying at Pallekele this Saturday.
It will be a close game , with a no underdog tag , the only tag being no quarters asked for and no quarters given period.
Question why has Trinity been given a 2 % with predictor advantage over Royal ? Answer simple , only home advantage.
If Trinity are to win , cardinal prerequisite, catch the ball first and distribute. Avoid your virus of infringements, most importantly inside your own territory because Idris Farook of Royal will make you pay with his boot. Trinity must be cautious of line kicking , any kick that goes into the hands of the back three of Royal will spell disaster.
Royal are more deciplined, no worries in that area , but must work the fringes with intent because they are up against a very strong set of forwards who have plenty of accolades for their strong defense. Royal must spread the ball and keep those passages of play. Use their speedy three-quarters and attack both right and the left flank. Whilst the Royal line is shade quicker in attack than Trinity, the Lions forwards are quicker in breakdowns and effective in rucks , mauls and drives , whilst pick and go skills of both teams looks similar.
Rolling mauls both teams have been excellent, Royal showed their prowess against Vidyartha in their last outing but , this time around its Trinity with a heavier pack , hence It must be a right Royal Rolling maul execution to get past the white wash.
St Thomas’s 55 % Isipathana 45 % @ Mount Lavinia.
If you were to take a pole and ask the Thomian rugby fraternity about the blue black and blue Rugby in the past decade, they would in unison state the Thomian team of 2025 has been among the best and are strong contenders for the prestigious league 2025.
Isipathana will be under the pump at Mount Lavinia. Thomians do have a huge home advantage with the cross wind that blows from the ocean , because throws to the line outs and line kicking brings about a new dimension and the Thomians are more accustomed to it than their opponents for sure.
If the Thomians refrain from their infringements similar to Trinity , perfect their line out executions , and be disciplined in the scrums , green machine will be in for a test of their season so far.
Thomians must improve their defense in those phase attacks ,keep focus on the 70 minutes of play , never take the eye off the ball , or get into a complacency mode , because Isipathana will make you pay for it big time.
Aimless kicking can be detrimental too.
Isipathana should improve with their run of play especially in the second half .Guard your white wash line Isipathana, because you are up against a slightly heavier set of forwards, who are excellent in breakdowns and feast on pick and go opportunities.
So far Isipathana has not played their brand of Rugby this year apart in patches. That flashy, open rugby out of the box ,gaps created and making use of breakdowns including turn over ball advantage, seems missing the season. They will use Zumri a lot in their pick and drive effort as seen in key games.. Overall their skill levels come at intermediate periods, but against St Thomas’ it has to be more consistent otherwise the Thomians will be all over the green machines.

Patana should Avoid unforced errors because this Thomian outfit will be on you like a pack of wolves , keep it simple, do the basics before improving because so far sides have come up with catchup rugby against you due to a loss of intent or fitness crack in your defence especially in the second half.
St Peters 55 % DS 45 % @ Bambalapitiya.
The defending champions are in the luxury of their backyard to defend from being eliminated from the Cup segment, and they have more than a battle to cope with against the intent based DS Senanayake outfit.
If St Peters have to stay in the cup segment they need to play their best game in this encounter, make sure they tick all boxes in all facets of the game.
Forwards must do the hard work. The three-quarters are immensely talented, spread the ball wide , play open rugby without handling errors, and do not isolate your players in rucks and mauls, do not live in your past glory is the call from coach Sanath Martis.
So far Peterites have not clicked, they seem too huddled , and ball handling must be good otherwise an upset is imminent.
The poll suggests that Bamba brigade are strong favourites, but DS will be a threat. DONS will take the park with intent, back of their minds , we have come thus far , let’s not drop that ball , use our Forwards, create the phase, suck in the Peterites energy, because with territorial advantage Peterites are bound to throw in the towel , due tournament pressure.

DS are unpredictable, Peterites on the other hand know how to win in their own backyard, but Martis has told his boys they must focus and play the percentage game ,otherwise elimination is inevitable.
Wesley 60 % Ananda 40 % @ Havelock Park.
In our survey for the team of the week segment Wesley have been adjudicated 3 times as team of the week in the 4 weeks of schools rugby we have seen so far.
Today Wesley stand tall as the team to beat , and the strong favourites to win this years well competed schools Rugby league.
Fair to state they are cut above the rest , but the big question is can they sustain this tag as pressure is mounting on them to perform and maintain this winning streak?
More often than not teams with superiority, tend to get into a complacency mode, and have played catch up Rugby which is dangerous.
Wesley are table leaders already qualified for the Cup segment in group 1 , but the challenge they meet this week is a dark horse and an unpredictable underdog from the city of Maradana namely Ananda College.
Wesley after their comprehensive win against defending champions St Peters, must ensure they play to the present challenge at hand and not live by their past glory.
The 60 % win predictor in favour of Wesley is because of their superiority in all facets of the game. Having stated that, underdogs are known to be party intruders ,who take pleasure in spoiling the party, and that is what Ananda are capable of as this tournament is yet to see a major upset from a dark horse.
Wesley will do their best not to take the pedal off the accelerator. Wesley is also known for their solid defense. They are known as one among the best in playing open Rugby, with the speedy back division synchronising with the forwards.
The teaser package here is , Ananda College, just promoted from ,B division have impressed this season and most importantly improving game by game , with a never say die attitude, which they exhibited against St Anthony’s in the Anthonians backyard, are capable of running the extra yards with their straight hard running three-quarters, and their mobile forwards, who make merry moments when the sun shines in their favour.
Wesley must throw caution to the wind. They say pride goes before a fall , we are not stating that there is an iota of pride in their team since they have gained their pride as one of the best teams so far from their hard work but complacency in success is the key ingredients for the dreaded word fall.
Putting this drama into a practical outlook taking off all theoretical speculation, Wesley play it clean , keep it simple, and do not take Ananda for granted because they can hurt you for sure.
Tomorrow our script will focus on the win predictor pole as per the appended.
