Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have announced the signing of Sri Lankan all-rounder Dunith Wellalage as a replacement for West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie ahead of the PSL 11.
Motie has withdrawn from the tournament due to undisclosed reasons, prompting the franchise to bring in the promising 23-year-old left-arm orthodox spinner to strengthen their bowling department.
Wellalage, regarded as one of Sri Lanka’s rising stars, joins a squad that already includes Sri Lanka’s T20I captain Dasun Shanaka, who was earlier picked by the Qalandars during the league’s inaugural player auction.
The young spinner gained significant attention with his impressive performances in the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where he claimed 8 wickets while maintaining an economical rate of 7.22.
