Havelock Sports Club secured a 29-10 win as they outclassed Police Sports Club in style at an Inter-Club Knockout quarter-final game played for the Clifford Cup, the oldest rugby tournament in Asia. The match was played at Havelock Park yesterday (28 February).
The winners, Park Club scored through four tries, three conversions, and a penalty.
At lemons, Havelock SC held a steady lead with 17 points, but Police SC was right on their heels scoring 10.
Half-time score: Havelocks 17-10 Police
After an exciting first essay, much was expected in the second half with both teams vying for glory after a rather disappointing end to their league campaign. Havies did justice to their home fans, scoring 12 points whilst keeping the Cops at bay without letting a single point leak in.
After the quarter-finals, the teams that have qualified for the semifinals are Havelocks, Air Force, Kandy SC, and League Champions CR & FC.
