Kumarage joins winter Olympics volunteer corps

Sri Lankan Ravindra Kumarage has been selected for a special role in the official volunteer corps of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.

He has qualified to represent the People Management section of the “Team26” volunteer corps at the global games.

Over 135,000 applications were received from around the world, out of which a limited number of around 18,000 have been selected.

The majority of the selected group are Italians, and it is noteworthy that Ravindra Kumarage is among the few selected representing other countries.

This selection process consisted of a series of highly competitive tests, after which he had to successfully complete a number of extremely difficult training sessions and various courses.

It is noteworthy that 58% of the volunteers selected this time have previous experience in sports and volunteer work.

Kumara’s 25 years of experience in the sports field and his professional background as the founder of the “Keniha” Sports Academy in Italy have been a strong reason for this international recognition.

It is a great pride for all Sri Lankans to hold such a responsible role on a grand stage like the Olympics, while elevating Sri Lankan identity to the top of the international sports arena.
