Pavan Rathnayake scored his maiden ODI century under pressure in the 3rd ODI match between England and Sri Lanka. Despite his effort, England took a comprehensive victory by 53 runs.
After winning the toss, England elected to bat first. Joe Root and skipper Harry Brook built an unbeaten 191-run partnership, which helped England set a mammoth target of 358.
Dhananjaya de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Jeffrey Vandersay picked up one wicket each for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka started the chase well, but England took important wickets at regular intervals. Pavan Rathnayake scored 121 runs from 115 balls, with 12 fours and one six. Pathum Nissanka added 50 runs. Sri Lanka were all out for 304 runs in 46.4 overs.
