Everyone witnessed an outstanding performance by England, as they won the second ODI match by 5 wickets.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first. Captain Charith Asalanka scored 45 runs, while Dhananjaya de Silva added 40 runs to the innings. However, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 219 runs in 49.3 overs. For England, Adil Rashid and Jamie Overton took two wickets each.
In reply, Dhananjaya de Silva took the first England wicket by dismissing Ahmed. After that, Joe Root and Ben Duckett built a solid partnership of 68 runs. Ben Duckett scored 39 runs.
Joe Root was the standout performer and guided England towards victory. Asitha Fernando broke the key partnership of 81 by taking Joe Root’s wicket. Root was the highest scorer for England with 75 runs.
Later, Jos Buttler and Will Jacks finished the match with 22 balls remaining. England captain Harry Brook also contributed a valuable 42 runs. For Sri Lanka, Dhananjaya de Silva and Jeffrey Vandersay took two wickets each.
