Sri Lanka Esports athletes will proudly represent the nation at the 3rd Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2025 taking place in Bahrain this October, where Esports will be featured as a medal event for the very first time.
Sri Lanka will be represented in multiple titles including Rocket League Girls, eFootball Boys, and Street Fighter Boys.
The team consists of W.L.A. Sayuni Sadushika competing in Rocket League Girls and M.A. Haiyan Aqwam vying in both eFootball Boys and Street Fighter Boys.
Their selection follows the official selection qualifiers held by the Sri Lanka Esports Association earlier this year.
The recognition of Esports as a medal sport at the Asian Youth Games reinforces its growing legitimacy and the opportunities it creates for youth.
As the official controlling body for Esports in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Esports Association continues to pave the way for young athletes to compete internationally.
“This opens up entirely new avenues for the next generation of Esports athletes in Sri Lanka, showing them that competitive gaming is not just a hobby but a platform where they can wear the national jersey, compete on an international stage and gain recognition for their talent. It is a moment of pride and opportunity for our youth,” said the Sri Lanka Esports Association President Raveen Wijayatilake.
For over a decade, Dialog Axiata has been the driving force behind the rise of Esports in Sri Lanka, championing its growth from grassroots tournaments to the international stage.
