Palitha Bandara Misses Podium Finish as Sri Lanka Ends World Para Athletics Championship with Two Bronze Medals

Sri Lanka’s Paralympian Palitha Bandara could not retain his bronze medal at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championship held in New Delhi, India. Competing in the men’s shot put event, Bandara recorded a best throw of 14.07 meters, which was not enough to secure a medal position this time.

Bandara, who has been one of Sri Lanka’s most consistent para athletes in recent years, gave his best effort despite tough competition from a strong international field.

With his performance, Sri Lanka concluded the championship with two bronze medals, both coming from the men’s events earlier in the tournament. The team’s achievements once again highlighted the growing presence of Sri Lankan para athletes on the global stage.

Despite missing out on a medal this year, Palitha Bandara’s dedication and resilience continue to inspire the next generation of athletes back home.
