New song to boost Chamari and Co’s WC hopes

The launch of the cricket song titled ‘Sri Lankan Lionesses on the Rise’, penned by veteran cricket writer Srian Obeysekera, and aimed at boosting the morale of the national women’s team due to compete at this year’s ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, is set to take place in Colombo on Monday (8).

The event is scheduled to be held at Hilton Colombo with popular musicians Melantha Perera and Judy rendering the English-Language duet, backed by the versatile musical group Gypsies led by Piyal Perera-the brother of the band’s founder and late celebrated vocalist Sunil Perera.

The Gypsies are also scheduled to render the Sinhala version of the new song, with the Tamil-Language song to be sung by another popular vocalist Swarniya.

The new song is a production of the ‘Go for Gold’ sports and lifestyle website spearheaded by Lakith Peiris.
