Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage took action through two extraordinary gazette notifications to suspend the registration of 6 national sports associations with immediate effect within 7 days and transfer the administrative powers of those associations to the Sports Ministry.
The registration of the three national associations of netball, cycling and motor sports, which have been in crisis due to the inability to hold elections, has been temporarily suspended and the administrative power of those associations has been transferred to the Director General of Sports
