It was a one-sided game under lights at Longdon Place, where the 39th Blaze Trophy will remain in the Wesley display cupboard for the fourth consecutive year.

Kingswood showed early signs of intent and urgency, but the Wesley defence proved too strong for the Kandy boys to break through.

An early penalty awarded to Kingswood set the tone, as they opted for an unsuccessful kick at goal instead of the five-metre rolling maul option.

Wesley truly had a field day. They scored eight tries as Kingswood looked a helpless outfit against a far superior side that produced cohesive rugby, complemented by the individual brilliance of half-back Dushan Dassanayaka and Abdul Hadhi. Their running lines were simply too much for their rivals, and they looked dangerous in broken play.

The game looked done and dusted by half-time, with the Double Blues leading 26–3.

Wesley enjoyed more possession, though they missed out on further scoring opportunities due to an abundance of infringements at crucial moments.

Quality players such as Abdul Hadhi, Dushan Dassanayaka, skipper Sandul Gamanpila, and deputy skipper Hashim Thambeeth end their illustrious schoolboy careers this season.

Wesley had a great 2025 season, and to finish on such a high is a memory that will linger indefinitely. Credit must go to coach Henry, his staff, and the management for their excellent work.
