Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General and Head of State of Australia, made a memorable visit to the historic Galle International Cricket Stadium this morning, celebrating the enduring sporting ties between Australia and Sri Lanka.
Accompanied by Paul Stephens, the Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Mostyn joined young cricketers from the Galle District age-group squads for a friendly game, showcasing her enthusiasm for grassroots sports and youth engagement.
The Governor-General was warmly received by officials from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), including Bandula Dissanayake, Honorary Secretary of SLC, who shared insights into the rich legacy of the iconic stadium nestled along Sri Lanka’s southern coast.
In a gesture that highlighted Australia’s commitment to nurturing cricketing talent in Sri Lanka, Ms. Mostyn distributed cricket equipment to the budding players, encouraging their passion and development in the sport.
