We hope you read our prediction of our week 5 predictions of 5 encounters yesterday. Hence, today’s presentation is on the games coming up , and teams that we envisage will not be contenders for the Cup championship or super Six.

Thurstan vs. Sumangala
27th @ Bogambara.
45 % Thurstan, 55 % Sumangala.

Sri Sumangala after their win against Vidyartha in their last outing might have a slight edge over Thurstan because they play at Bogambara and the ground conditions will favour them.
Sumangala forwards have improved after their experience against Royal and Trinity , guess they have learnt the importance of creating phases, and all rudiments pertaining to the game plan of forwards in attack and defense. A few good runners in their backline too impressed.

Thurstan had an excellent outing last week against Trinity. In fact they stamped dominant role against the lions in both halves at intermediate times , despite being led by 36 points to nil by the first 25 minutes of play. School of thought that Trinity coach Fazil Marjah rested 4 key players by giving his bench an opportunity , hence Trinity did not click as a unit.

End of the day you play against a team that puts out their best in the park, hence In our books Thurstan did a sterling job. Thurstan has an exciting nimble footed three-quarter line , so Sri Sumangala will not take them easy as it’s not a walk in the park.

Ananda vs St Anthony’s
@ Nittawala on 27th
Ananda 48 % SACK 52 %

Why are we speculating a 4 % difference in favour of the Kandy school ? The Anthonians have the home advantage , and their experience playing against a much better opposition Wesley has given them immense experience as with ball in hand they can create points. If the Anthonians three-quarter line can straighten up and do the hard yards , with the full back joining the line, the Maroons will have their hopes shattered.

Ananda forwards are very impressive, but tend to huff towards the latter part of the second half that cost them against DS , last week.

The defence of Ananda three-quarter line must improve. The run hard in attack but lack the fire power in defense. St Anthony’s will exploit this weakness if they fail to correct this flaw.

Science vs DS @ Havelock Park on 27th
Science 49 % DS 51%.

The win predictor meter for Science took a big climb after they showed what they are capable of when they had defending champions St Peters in distress. Excuses of the Peterites taking Science for granted is a grand mum’s tale in competitive rugby period.

It was a treat to watch Science out burst in the second half which was commendable. Science three-quarter line looks very dangerous when they run, hence DS , cover defence might have to do extra work , because Science will surely work their line.

The DONS have a heavy set of forwards who can suck in the energy levels of their counterpart, but for DS , their forwards must rally round in breakdowns, be more effective in the rucks and mauls, including the pick and drive.

This game too is envisaged to be a block buster tomorrow.

Kingswood vs Mahanama
On Sunday 29th @ Bogambara.

Mahanama 49 % Kingswood 51 %.

This is our Sunday block buster from Bogambara. The 2% advantage that Kingswood has is home soil advantage.

Kingswood three-quarter line is envisaged to do a lot of running because their success against Zahira was the open rugby they played which made the opposition tire after lemons. Kingswood still need to control their aimless kicking, because
Mahanama can be dangerous and so far in all their outings their forwards have been very mobile.

Remember Mahanama three-quarter line is very nimble footed and have proven good speedy runners.
Isipathana was under the pump against them in our books. Mahanama is amongst one of the most improved sides this season.
