Last week, we adjudicated Wesley as the probables for the Super Sixes this year, following their excellent display against Science College.
This week, Royal must be considered—beating Sumangala 53 points to 3, and that too at Bogambara. However, they seemed to simmer down in the second half, despite leading 36–0 before lemons.
Isipathana looked sharp yesterday, yet again performing well away from home in tough, slippery ball-handling conditions. They will, however, wonder how they allowed Kingswood to score twice in the second half. Hence, we have to keep the green boys turned brown out of the equation.
St. Thomas’ also proved their class, completely outplaying Zahira. However, once again they were guilty of lapses at the fringes and could have scored more.
Our Team of the Week is Trinity.
Eleven tries against home rivals, and that too in soggy conditions! Trinity was consistent in both halves—leading 29–14 before lemons and going on to score 45 points in the second half.
Trinity is adjudicated as Team of the Week based on:
-
Controlled infringements,
-
Vast improvement in the three-quarters,
-
A brilliant display of open rugby, with the ball being spread wide.
Team of the Week: TRINITY
