2 new records set at the National Junior Athletics Championships

Dilki Devmini of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, set new records in the Under-16 women’s javelin throw event and Shalomi Jayakody of Taxila Central Vidyalaya, Horana,

The National Junior Athletics Championships held at the Diyagama Stadium in Homagama began yesterday. Dilki Devmini achieved a performance of 12.68 meters in the javelin throw event, breaking the previous record of 11.96 meters set by herself last year.

Shalomi Jayakody achieved a throw of 40.81 meters in the hammer throw event, the previous record being set in 2023 by Lindali Jayaweera of Anula College, Nugegoda with a throw of 36.79 meters.
